Crypto Donations and IRS Forms
When you donate cryptocurrency, we will acknowledge the gift unless you make it anonymously. If the fair market value of the cryptocurrency donation from a US taxpayer exceeds $5,000, we will be prepared to sign Part V of IRS Form 8283 that you may choose to submit with your tax return to claim a charitable deduction. By signing that “Donee Acknowledgement” we are confirming the receipt of the cryptocurrency as described and dated on IRS Form 8283. We understand the reporting requirements imposed by the IRS Form 8283. If you are not a US taxpayer, please consult your tax professional regarding donations of cryptocurrency.
